Glendel is located 3.5 miles from the heritage town, Strokestown, which is situated on the N5, off the N61 north of Roscommon Town. The town is 144km (90 miles) from Dublin and 23 km (14 miles) from Longford.

Surrounded by many lakes, Strokestown is noted for its wide streets. It is said that they were made this way because the second Lord Hartland wanted to make his village thoroughfare even wider than the Ringstrasse in Vienna. The town was built up around Strokestown Park House, which was built in the 1730s.

Directions from Strokestown
On arrival in Strokestown, drive to the centre of the town where there is a roundabout with a small monument in the centre of it. Drive straight through in the direction signposted Carrick-on-Shannon / Elphin.

After 0.6 Km (0.4Miles) after the roundabout turn right in the direction signposted Drumsna / Kilmore / Kiltrustan.
After 3.8Km (2.4 miles) and after passing a big white house on your left, there is a staggered junction. Keep going straight ahead at this junction.
After 5.6 Km (3.5 miles) take a left turn along side a soccer pitch which has a small monument beside the turn-off engraved "Fr. Mattimoe Memorial Park opened 1980".
After 5.8 Km (3.6 miles) at the T junction take a left turn. The next house on the left hand side is where you will be awaited to collect the key of the house and you will be brought to your accommodation from there.
